The Venue is a live music performance space in downtown Aurora, Illinois, with a 200-seat listening room and outdoor stage when weather permits. We are proud to book nationally-recognized talent in all genres of music from blues and big band, to rock and world music, and everything in between. Frequently, our opening acts feature regional and local musicians and songwriters.

Volunteers make up the majority of our workforce - we've done everything from major construction to tech set up to slinging beer and wine! It's not just our mission, it's a testament to our integration with the community.

If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to mark@themusicvenue.org. Thank you!

The Venue is conveniently located in downtown Aurora. We are approximately four blocks south of the Metra train station. Street parking, is available as well as public lots and garages. Our building is handicap/wheelchair accessible via the Broadway Ave entrance. All other guests are asked to use the main entrance, via Water Street Mall. Both of our stages are also wheelchair accessible.

Our indoor event space can accommodate up to 200 guests. Weather permitting, we also have a retractable stage for use in the adjacent Agnes Mundy Park to host outdoor events and festivals.

Other entertainment and natural experiences in Aurora include Two Brothers Roundhouse (events, restaurant and brewery), the Paramount Theater (award-winning, Broadway-style theater experience), the Copley Theater, the Riverfront Playhouse (small independent theater), RiverEdge Park (large outdoor amphitheater), the Fox River Trail, Hollywood Casino, and numerous restaurants and clubs. Hotel accommodations can be acquired through the Holiday Inn Express (two blocks away) or through independent AirBnB hosts.

Imagine Summer in the City of Aurora … thousands of people wandering about checking out the goings on at the Paramount Theater, the Plaza of North Island … hundreds are gathering in RiverEdge Park before a mid-evening McCartney show … then heading toward downtown Aurora along the Riverwalk to check out the musicians performing at the Music Foundation’s outdoor stage situated within Mundy Park. Food vendors and street artists abound … music in the air … the sun glistening on the waters of the Fox River … love is in the air and peace permeates the Fox River Valley. It’s a perfect picture!

After four years of looking for a permanent home for the Fox Valley Music Foundation, we have found a place to hang our hats and coats. We looked near and far, from Elgin, to the north, and Aurora to the south, and all points in-between.

As fate would have it, Aurora turned out to be the place. That seems appropriate since the impetus for the formation of the Foundation was founded in the love of the Bluebird recordings that took place in downtown Aurora during 1937 and 1938.

The Foundation’s new headquarters will be located at THE VENUE, at 21 South Broadway in Aurora, beginning 2019. The building is south of Galena and just north of Downer, adjacent to Mundy Park. At one time, it was known as the Woolworth building.

In addition to being our administrative headquarters, the location will also serve as a 200 seat music venue, with a huge garage-door-style portal to our outdoor stage area located in Agnes Mundy Park. We will have a small area dedicated to music retail, and also offer wine, beer, sodas, and snacks on our limited menu.
